FAQs

General - Where does my money go? And what impact will it achieve?

All the donations received by the Broncos will be supporting the fit-out and completion of the TACF via the Brisbane Broncos Charity Fund. This will help the Broncos community work as well as player training. All the donations received by the Souths will support the work of the Souths Cares community program. Both community programs proudly help disadvantaged indigenous students in each state.

General - Will I receive a tax receipt for my donation?

Yes. Anyone donating over $2 (including $5 donations via text) will receive a tax receipt either via SMS or via email.

General - Can I check my donation has been received?

If you have received an email confirmation for your online donation, or a text message back from the Broncos or Souths, then your donation has been successful. In each case these might take up to 24 hours to arrive so bear with us. If after 24 hours you have not received confirmation, please see below where we talk about online and text donations.

General - Can I donate to support a different NRL team?

This initiative is focused on the Broncos and Souths. However, many other NRL teams have great community programs which also welcome donations online. Please visit your team’s website and follow the links from there.

General - Is there a limited time within which I can make a donation?

The campaign runs from 6 June to 6 July 2017 for the text to donate activity. However, you can donate online all the way through to the spring thanks to our friends at the Australian Sports Foundation.

General - Do I receive anything for my donation?

We hope that every donor will experience a warm and happy feeling in contributing to the future of the Broncos or Souths. For those Broncos supporters who donate $1,000 or more, you will be able to add a name to our Building Broncos, Building Community wall.

General - I just donated online but the total on the website has not gone up yet. Does that mean my donation failed?

We update the total roughly once a day rather than in real time, so there’s likely to be a delay between when you donate, and when your donation is included in the online total.

Online donations - Why am I donating on the Australian Sports Foundation site, not the Broncos or Souths sites?

We’re keen to make sure you can securely and easily donate to the campaign while also getting your tax receipt for donations over $2. We have partnered with the Australian Sports Foundation to make your online donation quick and easy, and ensure (if relevant) that you get a tax receipt too. You can find out more about the great work of the ASF here: https://asf.org.au/

Text donations - Who are the Telco Together Foundation and why have they come up on my phone bill?

We’re lucky enough to be working with the charity arm of all the mobile operators in Australia, the Telco Together Foundation. Through their support and generosity, we are able to offer you text donations so you can give easily and quickly through your mobile billing while you are out and about, or watching the game on TV.

Text donations - Why is my text donation tax receipt from the Australian Sports Foundation instead of the Broncos or the Souths?

We’re keen for you to get a tax receipt for your text donations so we partnered with the Australian Sports Foundation to make sure that happens. You can find out more about the great work of the ASF here: https://asf.org.au/

Text donations - Can I check my text donation worked?

If you received a text message back from the Broncos or Souths, then your donation has been successful. This might take up to 24 hours to arrive due to the level of response we receive to TV appeals, so please bear with us. If after 24 hours you have not received a confirmation message, please call our helpline on: 1300 445 516 and we will do what we can to track down your donation.

Text donations - I think I sent the wrong message into the text number. What should I do?

If you received a text message back from the Broncos, Souths or Telco Together, your donation has been successfully received even if you used an incorrect keyword. This response might take up to 24 hours to arrive due to the level of donations we receive during TV appeals, so please bear with us. If after 72 hours you have not received a confirmation message, your donation has not been processed so please make another donation by texting either BRONCOS or SOUTHS to 1997 6484 to donate $5. If you are still having issues please call our helpline on: 1300 445 516.

Text donations - I texted the correct word and number and have not heard anything back. Is that normal?

When you donate using the text service you should receive two messages back from us: one is your tax receipt and one is a confirmation message. The text to donate service is available on eligible plans except Optus Prepaid. If you are using an eligible plan and can see your message was sent, but you have not received a confirmation text response after 24 hours, please call our helpline on: 1300 445 516.
